From GM Lansing Delta Township Manufacturing Team

    Posted by Fred Woodhams GM

GM has received notification from the UAW GM Department confirming that the tentative agreement has been ratified. As a result, several of the provisions that the company agreed to will go into effect today, Nov. 20.
Those provisions include temporary team members converting to seniority status and appropriate wage related changes. Some of the elements of the contract (such as 401k contributions) may take a little more time to implement due to the need to update systems.
Specific timing for those elements is detailed in the labor agreement.

As you know by now, we have a tentative agreement with GM (TA). We are waiting on details of the TA and will share them as we get them. You can always check this page for official up to date information. Friday November 3rd, GM National Council will be convening in Detroit to vote on sending the TA to the members. As of now that same evening, Friday November 3rd, IUAW President Fain will be doing a Facebook Live video to explain the details. The highlighter and white book are supposed to be available online Friday evening as well. Regional meetings will then be scheduled for local elected and then informational meetings for the membership and ratification vote will be scheduled.

As many of you know, LDT management is starting to call members back to work. The union got  a call this morning 15 minutes before the ANS alert went out saying they were going to start production on second shift tonight. Since then, I have been on the phone with the plant manager and personnel director. I am in complete disagreement with management giving such short notice and on Halloween. Since the conversation, they are now asking for volunteers on dayshift and TL's and repair only on second shift. I still don't agree. However, there is no way to stop them contractually.

    From: General Motors ANS Alerts

UAW and GM have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
Our production schedule will be as follows:
    Today, Oct. 31:
    - All skilled-trades are required to work as previously communicated.
    - First-shift team leaders can voluntarily report.
    - Second-shift team leaders are required to report.
    - Second-shift final repair employees are required to report.
    - All third-shift employees are required to report.
Tomorrow, Nov. 1, the plant will resume normal operations on all shifts.
Please keep the GM values and behaviors in mind as we return to work to set ourselves up for success. Prioritize safety, ensure we all have the proper PPE, Take Two for safety, inspect our workstations and equipment, and follow 3-2-1-0 as we travel through the plant. It is important that we Live Values That Return People Home Safely...Every Person, Every Site, Every Day.

    10-30-23

    It's official !!!

602 family, we have a tentative agreement (TA) with GM. Thank you to all our members for holding the line and standing strong. Our strike duty will end at 8:00pm. If you are on strike duty, please make sure the picket location is cleaned up before you leave and all sign in sheets are returned to the hall. People will be around to take down the tents and remove any other items. If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

More information will be relayed as we get it in regards to return to work, roll out, and voting.

    10-25-23

From IUAW and how the TA with Ford affects us.

Today, our UAW national negotiators reached a tentative agreement with Ford. We said record profits mean record contracts, and the Stand Up Strike has delivered.

UAW President Shawn Fain and Vice President Chuck Browning announced the agreement in a video released tonight.

In the video, President Fain and Vice President Browning give an overview of the agreement, while outlining next steps in the ratification process. Here’s a summary of what we’ve won at Ford:

    • The gains in the deal are valued at more than four times the gains from the 2019 contract.
    • It provides more in base wage increases than Ford workers have received in the past 22 years.
    • The agreement grants 25% in base wage increases through April 2028.
    • It cumulatively raises the top wage by over 30% to more than $40 an hour.
    • It raises the starting wage by 68%, to over $28 an hour.
    • The lowest-paid workers at Ford will see a raise of more than 150% over the life of the agreement.
    • Some workers will receive an immediate 85% increase immediately upon ratification.

The agreement reinstates major benefits lost during the Great Recession, including Cost-of-Living Allowances (COLA) and a three-year Wage Progression, as well as killing divisive wage tiers in the union.

It improves retirement for current retirees, those workers with pensions, and those who have 401(k) plans. It also includes a historic right to strike over plant closures, a first for our union.

As President Fain said, the members are the highest authority in our union, so they will make the final decision on this agreement after it’s reviewed by the UAW-Ford National Council.

While we’re going through the ratification process, President Fain and Vice President Browning are asking UAW members at Ford to return to work. We’re going back to work at Ford to keep the pressure on Stellantis and GM. The last thing they want is for Ford to get back to full capacity while they mess around and lag behind.

The Stand Up Strike continues at Stellantis and GM, where we will keep fighting for a fair agreement for every UAW member.

    In Solidarity,

    The UAW Organizing Team

Message from UAW President Shawn Fain
    We just made history.
Minutes before we were set to go live today, GM agreed to put their battery plants under our master agreement.
This is happening because of the incredible courage of our members, who are ready and willing to Stand Up at a moment’s notice. It’s happening because of our creative, history making strike strategy. And it’s happening because we laid the ground work with a powerful contract campaign.
This is the fight of our generation and we are winning. We will win.
    In solidarity,
    Shawn

    9-22-23

    • Local 602 family,
We have not been called upon to go out on strike. As you know that means we continue to work and as President Fain has asked; we remain strong, support our UAW siblings that have been asked to stand up and strike and the most difficult task – be patient. If local 602 is asked to stand up and strike in the coming weeks, we know we are ready.

We can’t speak for International, but we think the lack of information coming from Detroit is intentional. We would not be able to keep the big 3 guessing if the information about what’s next is easily available. Please remain vigilant and keep an eye out for one another during this stressful time.

      In Solidarity,
      UAW local 602 Leadership

    • (from IUAW Facebook Page) At noon 5,000 more members of the Auto Workers (UAW) at 38 parts distribution centers for Stellantis and General Motors are walking off the job. The facilities are spread across 20 states.

The escalation adds a new type of facility to the mix. Parts distribution centers (PDCs) supply after-sales spare parts and accessories to dealerships, a very profitable part of the companies’ business.

With the expiration of the agreement at 11:59pm on September 14th, if we continue to work without a contract, as your Chairman, along with your Shop Committee, we want to assure you that we will continue to work as normal. Management will not change anything here locally. All the shop rules will stay the same, all the vacations will stay the same, all the Doc 8s will stay the same. We had conversations with the Personnel Director and we are not going to change how we conduct ourselves locally! Continue to follow your standardized work and safety rules. We urge you to watch the video from the UAW attorney provided by your International Staff posted below. It explains what it means to be working under an expired contract. It explains the protections that you will be working under. You are not an “AT WILL” employee! We will continue to share any information as we get it from the International Union as we have done up to this point.
